re: Why Doesn't PS5 Have Games?
This is a reply to Seer's post "Why Doesn't PS5 Have Games?".
I agree with Seer's analysis of why the PS5 feels like it has no games. Go read their post, it is a good one. I just wanted to comment that it still feels like the PS5 has no games, even if the PS5 my main gaming device.
Since I don't have a PC since a long time ago1 and I don't have a PS4, there is just a lot of games that I can only play on the PS5.
I've played in my PS5 five Trails games 2 and am now my sixth one. Two were for PSP, two for PS Vita, two for PS4; the first four ported to PS4. The next one on the line is also a PS4 game. I need to finish two 50+ hours JRPGs before I get to play one originally released for the PS5.
I have only two physical games which are PS5 discs: Tales of Arise and TES IV: Oblivion Remastered. Both are not PS5 exclusives; the original Oblivion was a PS3 game. All of the other ones I have are PS4 discs, mostly a bit older games.
I have no idea at all how many of the digital games I have are not on PS5. Lots of them nominally are a PS5 version, it doesn't really make a difference for me. I play on a 10+ years old TV, anything above 1080p is useless. Even when I had a 4K TV for a short time, I was mostly playing indies and old games.
To close, even compared to the other gaming devices I have, the PS5 doesn't really have exclusive games. The PS3 (nowadays)3, the Wii, the 3DS, all had very unique titles when they were still on the market.
For a long time I had only an old MacBook Air. It was good enough to play Terraria, but only during the Winter with no heating.↩
A JRPG series where each game is 50+ hours long.↩
Since I live in Japan, the XBox is not really a thing. Used game stores have more WiiU games than whatever the newest XBox has.↩
